It has been a while since our last newsletter for which we apologise. It is not that there has been nothing happening, just that some of it has been ‘behind the scenes’. We have waited until all was ready to let you know that this year we have changed the format of our run-up-to-Christmas events.
This year we are holding two rather than three events but our first one is going to be really special. A committee working group was set up to develop the ‘Craftastic Christmas’ event and after much hard work on this idea we can now announce:
‘Craftastic Christmas at KGS’ Saturday 17th November 2018 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A one day craft fair with a difference, open from 10 a.m. spread through Kirkwall Grammar School’s ground floor. Members of Orkney Arts and Crafts will have stalls there as well as a number of independent artists and crafters.
Included in our day of festive fun, there will be for the children, a Santa’s Grotto and face painting and for everyone there will be a prize draw with beautiful hand-made items donated by all the makers present at the fair.
The Youth Cafe will be providing food and drinks through the day.
This is going to be the biggest one-day event we have ever organised and our thanks go to Teenie and Lynn for their hard work and skills bringing the idea to fruition.
Last Chance Crafts at the Town Hall Saturday 24th November 10a.m. to 4 p.m.
Our final fair of the year will be held as usual in the Town Hall room of Kirkwall Community Centre. Cards and gifts a-plenty with small hand –made items for stocking fillers as well as larger items for main presents. Nothing says ‘thoughtfulness’ as much as a unique hand-made gift chosen specially for the recipient.
Thought of putting together a ‘Christmas Eve Box’ this year? Not enough to go in it? Call in to see what you can find here.
After this there will be a break until our 2019 spring craft fairs, but remember you can still order items from our makers through the website. Get in touch with the makers direct or contact through our ‘Contact Us’ link.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.
