K Muir Crafts
I have always been very arty from a young age. I love making all types of crafts for family & friends for all occasions. Cards, sawing, waxmelts, soaps & what I love the most is making jewellery.
I did have a little help as from the age of 15 when I left school I went to work in a local jewellery & manufacturning company for 17 years. I had left there & went down a different route and went into bookkeeping & administrative work for a local vessel charter, commercial diving & international marine construction services.
I’m self taught in a lot of my work which is the best way to learn, I think. I produce jewellery using 925 sterling silver with findings & fittings. I also now work with precious fine silver metal clay 99.9% pure silver.
Metal clay is a crafting medium consisting of very small particles of metal such as silver, gold, bronze or copper, mixed with an organic binder & water for use in making jewellery. Metal clay can be shaped just like any soft clay, by hand or using moulds. After drying out the clay can be torch or kiln fired. The binder burns away leaving the pure sinstered metal. With the precious metal clay you can also fire in place some handmade gemstones and embeddable & kiln safe findings.
You can see my work at crafts fairs, exhibitions and online through my Instagram & Facebook pages.
